In addition to all the benefits already mentioned (including on-line dating) the greatest transformation came from learning that JW's are not the true religion, but a high control cult. The freedom that came from that realization is truly, truly priceless!!!!!!!!!!

long time sister told me yesterday that end would be here within 7 years!!
by PaNiCAtTaCk ini went to the meeting yesterday because the out of town speaker and his wife are good friends of my wife and i. after the meeting we got invited to someones house who was feeding the speaker because they know that we are friends and because ive missed lots of meetings in the last two months and my wife and i need a good love bombing!
well during our lunch i was complaining about my having braces at 30 and how stupid i looked with them and the 83 year old sisters house we were at told me that i wasted my money on them because the end would be here with 7 years anyway.
i asked her "do you really think so?

There was another thread where a sister delcared something similar if not the same time frame. It's so sad that people are wasting their lives waiting for something better, when the REAL LIFE is to be lived right now.
I often say to people who are postponing their dreams that "As far as we know for sure, this life is all we have so why not make the best of the time we have and try and do as many things as want to".
Imaginge what she could have done with the 50+ years she's served the borg. So sad really .

e-foot in mouth, does anyone else have this problem??
by Frog inhey guys don't know about you but i got through these periods where i seriously put my foot in it via email, forums, txt messages etc.
in real life i'm quite diplomatic and have a knack for saying the right thing.
the sort of thing i'm talking about is replying to all in an email, rather than just replying to sender, and disseminating a whole bunch of information to people you never intended it for.

Hey froggie! I have the same issue with paying attention to details. When it comes to e-mail I've learned to keep it short, sweet, professional and to the point - it's better to leave something out than to give out too-much-info.
On the discussion board it's more difficult because my tendency to share doesn't turn on and off so people may know a lot more about me than I want them to. But, what they hey! Maybe someone will be helped by my sharing.
Netty - I feel you on not reading your past posts. There's one particularly nasty post of mine I never returned to . Taught me to censure myself just a little more

I don't understand how they can shirk their responisiblity for their members actions when: 1) They have the names and addresses of all members on FILE 2) They require the members to go door-knocking 3) They require members to report themselves to the local elders if they violate the WTBTS rules. Seems like their totally responsible to me. Oh, and let's not forget that the elders will show up at the hospital IMMEDIATELY if one of the members are critically injured in order to ensure no blood transfusions are administered. Sheisty sonsofbitches.

Even though I WISH the internet would kill the witless religion I doubt that it will, simply because some people are TOO LAZY to look anything up ... myself included
Case in point:
Do I believe in God: yes, do I believe in the God of the bible? NO, why, cause of something I read on the internet, but have I done the research myself? NO. Why not? lazy, don't have time, would rather just read JWD and get to that stuff later .
In the meantime ... life is just sooooo much better being free to do what I want, when I want, IF I want.
(tamtam of the 'and I still have love for God' class and I try to be good to people cause it's the right thing to do ... I don't need no damn list to figure the sh*t out')

I'm so glad I didn't spend 40+ years listening to that BS! The botchtower has a helluva lot to answer for to the people who've wasted their entire lives believing the myth about a new order! It wouldn't be so bad believing that the end is so near if they could just enjoy their lives in the meantime. That's what REALLY pisses me off about the GB, why do they have to sap all the joy out of peoples lives when they HAVE TO KNOW THAT IT'S NOTHING BUT A LIE!!! If it were the troof they would be open to questions and provide proof for their wacky doctrines, and wouldn't throw out everybody with a brain capable of cognitive thought ... ok, I'm getting on a tirade here ... back to work
